Aug. 27 The Ministry of Digital Affairs is inaugurated and the Minister is announced.
May 10: Drafts of the Rules Governing the Functions and Assignments of the Ministry of Digital Affairs and staffing table are submitted to joint review agencies for feedback.
March 21: The Ministry of Digital Affairs Preparatory Task Force has its second meeting.
March 1: The head of the Ministry of Digital Affairs Preparatory Task Force is reassigned, the Directions for the Establishment of the Ministry of Digital Affairs Preparatory Task Force are revised.
Jan. 19: President Tsai Ing-wen promulgates the Act of the Ministry of Digital Affairs and related organizational acts under Presidential Decree No. 11100003321. Bills for supporting organizational and standards acts of Executive Yuan, the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, and the National Development Council are announced the same day.
2021
Dec. 28: Legislative Yuan passes bills for the Organizational Act of the Ministry of Digital Affairs and related organizational acts.
Aug. 3: The Ministry of Digital Affairs Preparatory Task Force has its first meeting. Agenda includes drafting meeting presentation, preliminary work division for each team, and creating Gantt charts.
May 4: The Ministry of Digital Affairs Preparatory Task Force is established under Executive Yuan’s approval according to Directions for the Establishment of the Ministry of Digital Affairs Preparatory Task Force.
March 25: Executive Yuan passes the Bill for the Adjustment of Functions and Organizations of the Executive Yuan and submits to the Executive Yuan. The bill’s scope covers the establishment of the Ministry of Digital Affairs, Ministry of National Defense Administration for Reserve Mobilization, and transformation of the Ministry of Science and Technology into the National Science and Technology Council.
March 17: Bills for Ministry of Digital Affairs-related organizational acts are reviewed during session. The process includes joint discussion with the minister-without-portfolio’s office about organizational acts and related topics, personnel selection and transfer, security checks and other personnel assignments.
Feb. 18: Executive Yuan Secretary-General announces plan to submit the bill for the Organizational Act of the Ministry of Digital Affairs during the new session.
Feb. 17: Executive Yuan appoints the Directorate-General of Personnel Administration as the bill-drafting agency for the organizational act.
2020
May 20: President Tsai Ing-wen announces plan to establish the Ministry of Digital Affairs during inauguration speech.
