Ministry of Digital Affairs Holds Local Governmental Information Manager Joint Meetings to Promote Digital Transformation and Grasp AI Trends with Local Governments

The Ministry of Digital Affairs(MODA) held the first "2024 Information Manager Joint Meetings-Local Government Group" collaboratively with the Keelung City Government. The MODA collaborated with 22 local governments to promote digital transformation and grasp the new trends of AI. This meeting provided a platform for stimulating discussions on the possibilities of integrating digital innovation into local government public governance to enhance government service efficiency.

In his opening remarks, Deputy Minister Herming Chiueh highlighted the meeting theme: "Promoting Digital Transformation and Grasping New AI Trends." He emphasized the government's role as a leader in the AI era. The government should formulate AI-related policies and apply AI technology across various fields. To assist governmental agencies in promoting AI, the MODA requires cooperation with information officers of local governments to build a smart government that resonates with the public.

The thematic discussions at the meeting focused on two main topics: the Electronic Signature Act and AI. Regarding Electronic Signatures, the Administration for Digital Industries of the MODA elaborated on the modification of electronic signatures. At the same time, the Taipei City Government shared their "MyDoc e-Document Application system," helping participants understand the practical applications of electronic signatures under the new regulations. Regarding the AI issue, the MODA invited experts to present global trends and case studies of the AI policies of smart government. The Kaohsiung City Government showcased its "AI  Application for Smart Transportation," and the National Institute of Cyber Security explained the "Analysis of Practical Applications of  Large Language Model." The diverse and engaging discussions sparked lively exchanges among attendees.

Moreover, the Department of Land Administration of the Keelung City Government introduced its "Comprehensive Geographic Information System." This system collects seven data types, including land administration, zoning, and cadastral information, across 19 layers. The system combines streetscape environment facilities, allowing users to search for addresses or land numbers and access updated information over time. The system is conveniently accessible via mobile phones or computers, making it simple for the public to find relevant information.

MODA stated that the "2024 Information Manager Joint Meetings-Local Government Group" provided a cross-domain collaboration and communication platform for local governments and central ministries. Through this face-to-face dialogue, participants exchanged insights on integrating information resources and drafting innovative services, discussing practical strategies and implementation methods. The MODA looks forward to cooperating closely with local governments, leveraging emerging technologies to create an efficient and responsive "Blessed Taiwan."
