Optimizing Online Public Services Ministry of Digital Affairs Creates Thematic Service Grid with MyData Vision
To expand user reach and enhance the service experience, the Ministry of Digital Affairs (the MODA) announced that it has planned a Thematic Service Nine-Grid using the concept of personal data self-use (MyData) vision. The service aims to develop services closely related to the daily needs of the public and enrich various thematic service categories through extended service processes. The nine significant themes include Convenient Living, Social Assistance, Family Care, Social Welfare, Education and Learning, Tax Services, Women and Children Care, Consumer Finance, and Career Development. In addition to horizontal expansion to central agencies and county/city governments, it will also take root in extending online services, improving application efficiency, and better meeting the daily needs of the public, contributing to creating a new digital society.
The MODA pointed out that the MyData platform officially launched in April 2021 and has provided a cumulative total of 137 data downloads, 122 in-person services, as well as 740 online services as of August 31, 2024, achieving over 2.25 million data downloads and online applications. Taking the Convenient Living category as an example, the Bureau of Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs launched the Conditional Online Passport Renewal/Replacement measure. If individuals meet certain conditions—such as holding a passport with a household registration in Taiwan, having an expired passport that has not been lost in the past ten years, residing in Taiwan, and not changing personal data during renewal—they can use the MyData platform to provide the necessary documents for passport renewal. Once the passport is issued, they can collect it in person at the Bureau of Consular Affairs or its regional offices in central, southern, and eastern Taiwan, thus facilitating a more straightforward renewal process.
The MODA further explained that municipal governments are also fully committed to expanding application services online. The Nantou County Government, for example, has recently increased its integration with the MyData platform, focusing on Women and Children Care and Tax Services. As of August 30, 21 new online services have been added, including Early Intervention Therapy Subsidy for Children with Developmental Delays. Through the MyData platform, with individual consent, people can access personalized data and complete the application process online, overcoming the difficulties of cross-agency data retrieval and significantly improving application efficiency.
The MODA stated that in the future, it will continue to work closely with central agencies and municipal governments to develop more thematic public services and optimize the data autonomy mechanism. With people and society as the core, digital technology will be closer to our daily needs.
