MyData Partners with Local Governments to Promote Family Care Services, Making Life More Convenient

The Ministry of Digital Affairs (the MODA) announced on October 4th that in response to the government’s long-term care policy and to alleviate the stress on family caregivers, the MyData platform has partnered with local governments to develop Family Care themed services. This October, Hsinchu and Changhua launched new online services for the application of long-term care, enabling residents to apply for long-term care resources at ease and alleviating the burden of long-term care.

MODA explained that the rapid aging of Taiwan’s population has increased the demand for long-term care. In response, the Executive Yuan implemented the Long-term Care 2.0 plan in January 2017. By August this year, five counties-Nantou, Yunlin, Chiayi, Tainan, and Pingtung- had already integrated their long-term care application services with the MyData platform. As of October, Hsinchu County and Changhua County have joined the MyData application process.

For instance, in Changhua, citizens can complete the required applications online through the MyData platform after identity verification and personal consent. This process provides access to household ID information, indigenous status, low-income certification, and disability qualifications in one step, eliminating the need to visit various offices for documents. This service is available anytime, anywhere, making it easier for residents to access government resources such as daycare, family care, respite services, and subsidies for assistive devices, alleviating the burden on caregivers.

MODA further noted that additional services are available under the Family Care theme, including daycare services for older people at long-term care centers and application of allowances for life events (e.g., marriage) and  Residents can access personalized information for online applications through the My Data platform. Looking ahead, the MODA will continue cooperating with central and local governments to develop more services that meet everyday needs, working together to build a new digital society.
