To boost public participation in policymaking and foster strong public-private collaboration, the Ministry of Digital Affairs (MODA) continues to promote the Civic Tech Sandbox program. This year's initiative, themed "Civic Tech Taiwan: The Cross-Domain Arena", invites local governments to propose their key policy needs and calls on innovative civil teams to co-create tailored local digital solutions.

According to the Ministry, this year's partner cities and project topics include: "Runner's Station – Friendly Sports Map" of Kaohsiung City,  "Disaster Prevention Data Integration System" of Tainan City, "Automated Scheduling System for Fire Equipment Reporting" of Taitung County, and  "Online Appointment and Query System for Early Intervention Joint Assessment Clinics" of Taoyuan City. The initiative encourages creative and capable teams from the private sector—referred to as "innovation forces"—to work alongside local governments in developing practical digital tools. The goal is to strengthen the overall capacity of public digital services.

This year, the program introduces a new collaborative model that brings together digital transformation consultants and innovation teams, encouraging cross-domain cooperation in both team formation and project development. Each selected team can receive up to NT$460,000 in funding for research and development. All project outcomes will follow the Standard for Public Code and will be publicly available on the Ministry's Public Code Platform, enabling reuse by other public agencies and further innovation by the private sector.

Applications opened until noon on July 22. Proposals from government officials, data experts, and creative civil teams are all welcome. Whether applying as a group or as an individual, it is encouraged to address local issues through digital technology, making digital transformation a collaborative and sustainable movement for all.
