Industry Forum for Taiwan Digital Identity Wallet Concludes Successfully — Advancing a Convenient and Secure Digital Society
The Ministry of Digital Affairs (MODA) hosted the Application Forum of the Taiwan Digital Identity Wallet (Taiwan DIW) on July 25, gathering representatives from financial and transportation regulators, as well as industry experts. The event demonstrated strong cross-sector interest in the development and application of digital credentials, highlighting a shared commitment to innovation and ecosystem collaboration. The participants exchanged views on innovative application scenarios and challenges, marking a new chapter in Taiwan’s digital transformation.
To promote the Taiwan DIW into citizens’ daily application, the Ministry proactively extended the application scenario. With the theme “Digital Trust, Industrial Renewal,” the forum explored how the Taiwan DIW can optimize business processes, enhance data security, and strengthen user trust. Through keynote speeches, case studies, and cross-sector panel discussions, participants examined practical application scenarios from financial services, car sharing, educational certifications, and innovative campus infrastructure. The conversations delved into policy, technical, and market considerations, identifying both opportunities and challenges in real-world adoption.
MODA emphasized Taiwan’s progress in digital credentials development by sharing international case studies and emerging technology trends. From the financial aspect, digital credentials serve as an effective tool for Know Your Customer (KYC) procedures. In mobility, the digital credentials enable fast and trustworthy rental authentication for shared vehicle services. While in education, digital credentials for student identity and academic records contribute to smart campus infrastructure and modernized personal data management. The forum also laid the foundation for enhanced collaboration among government, industry, and academia.
The Ministry reinforced the role of the Taiwan DIW in strengthening individual data autonomy and fostering a secure, trustworthy, and interoperable digital ecosystem. The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to continue organizing workshops and international exchanges, expanding cross-border use cases, integrating global best practices, and advancing the adoption of Taiwan DIW services together with industry partners. These efforts aim to create a digital society that strikes a balance between convenience, information security, and digital sovereignty.
