The moda Thanks Allies and Friends for Inauguration Congratulations

The Ministry of Digital Affairs (moda) was inaugurated by President Tsai Ing-wen and Premier Su Tseng-chang on August 27. By noon, it had received congratulatory messages about both moda’s inauguration and Minister Audrey Tang’s appointment—these came from political representatives and friends from 13 countries, including Chile, France, Germany, India, Japan, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Paraguay, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, the U.K., and the U.S.

Considering that “national digital power” has become the most important field of competition for developed countries, President Tsai proposed the vision to make Taiwan a “digital country and smart island” while she was running for her first term.

In her second term’s inauguration speech, she vowed to create a “digital development agency” that would consolidate the five fields of communications, information, cyber security, the Internet, and media. The goal was to promote the innovation and reformation of Taiwan’s digital development policy, ensure national cyber security, stimulate digital industry development, and assist the public- and private-sector digital transformation.

The moda thanks the political representatives and friends for their sincere good wishes. It looks forward to being the driving force behind Taiwan’s digital development, working closely with other countries, and enhancing Taiwan’s contributions to the international community.
