The Ministry of Digital Affairs (moda) said today that recent rumors saying registration data of NT$6,000 program will be sold are all speculations and rumors. The registration system is designed and equipped with a strict data protection mechanism, whereby the personal information collected will be deleted 1 month after the end of the project (expected to be before the end of February 2024) and will not be retained.

The moda explained that the information registered on the Internet will only be used for the purpose of data verification. The moda has designed a strict data protection mechanism, including encryption of the process of data transmission, mandatory authorization and traceable records for the use of data, and encrypted storage of data to ensure that the public's data is protected from leakage.

In addition, the moda explained that the NT$6000 cash payment registration asks individuals to provide their ID card numbers and health insurance card numbers, which is not the first time health insurance card numbers are paired to help identify citizens. The 1922 vaccine appointment booking platform, the income tax returns system, and “Pandemic Subsidy and Relief for Families with Children” program all require ID card numbers and health insurance card numbers.

The moda said that, just like the requirement to bring two documents to get a phone number, the two-identification number verification is to protect people's right and to prevent people from passing off as others and fraudulently claiming the money. The program system will refuse to register the information if the two ID numbers do not belong to the same person.

The moda has condemned malicious rumors and again emphasized that the personal information received for this program will be strictly guarded and managed. Also, the personal information will be permanently deleted following the end of the project and not stored for any other purposes.
