Administration for Digital Industries, Ministry of Digital Affairs, held the first E-commerce Carnival, gathered around 40 booths from domestic and international e-commerce companies, demonstrating latest E-commerce Technologies

The Administration for Digital Industries (ADI), Ministry of Digital Affairs (moda) held the first E-commerce Carnival on August 25th. The event featured a forum where e-commerce industry leaders shared their views of the e-commerce trends, and an experiential market gathering around 40 booths and over 50 domestic and international e-commerce companies. The event presented the strength of Taiwan’s e-commerce industry and showed unlimited futures for the development of e-commerce.

Jiunn-Shiow Lin, Deputy Director-general of the ADI, stated that with “Boundless e-commerce and limitless innovations” as the theme of the event, the E-commerce Carnival cooperated with the Thai Trade Office, promoting cross-border e-commerce in Taiwan and Thailand through the online campaign. In order to seize the opportunities of Online Merge Offline (OMO) after the pandemic, the offline event was held in Taiwan for the first time. It was expected to expand the development of e-commerce through introducing new technologies to the industry, and through exchanging cross-border experiences with international e-commerce companies. In order to promote the e-commerce industry to the next level by innovations, the ADI supports e-commerce companies to apply new technologies and to develop innovative services actively. In addition to experience e-commerce new technologies at the event, the forum also discussed about major topics, including AI, XR, big data, and the most recent issues. It is anticipated that the abundant content will provide future development directions and visions for Taiwan's e-commerce industry.

In addition to PChome Thai and Pinkoi, international e-commerce companies including Amazon Global Selling, Coupang, EasyStore, and other representative e-commerce operators were invited to exhibit at the E-commerce Carnival. Long-term partners including the Thai Trade Office, the Malaysian Friendship and Trade Centre, and other cross-border e-commerce companies have been invited to participate in concerted efforts to open up international markets, realizing the spirit of limitless cross-border e-commerce and innovations.

In terms of the e-commerce forum, Dr. Lee-Feng Chien, Appier and iKala's independent director, former head of Google Taiwan, discussed the business opportunities and challenges that the most popular AI has brought to the e-commerce industry today, Eva Chuang, Vice President of Shin Kong Mitsukoshi's E-commerce Department shared cases and achievements of OMO through e-commerce. Amazon and Coupang shared experiences of e-commerce startup and international market expansion; Appier and iKala discussed the application of AI to enhance the operational efficiency of e-commerce; TenMax and AviviD Innovative Media discussed data application and precision marketing to reduce costs; the Rotary Club of Taipei Metaverse and TianYen  focused on utilizing XR technology to enhance the online shopping and consumption experiences, providing future development visions for Taiwan's e-commerce industry. The rich content has provided participants with a wealth of knowledge and inspiration.
