Minister Audrey Tang of the Ministry of Digital Affairs (moda) led Director General Jang-Hwa Leu of Administration for Digital Industries (ADI) and his team to visit Inventec’s smart factory in Taoyuan today, exchanging ideas and witnessing the benefits of Private 5G Networks applications. The moda delegation was received by Inventec’s Chairman Sam Yeh, and Inventec’s team members guided the tour of the smart manufacturing and introduced the achievements of AI research and development.

Minister Tang mentioned that Inventec’s Taoyuan RD factory, the first smart factory in Taiwan to obtain a Private 5G Networks license, is not only a demonstration of Inventec’s R&D capabilities, but also a role model for the digital transformation of Taiwan’s overall industry. The ministry is committed to serving as the driving force of digital transformation in all walks of life, and thus moda listens to the opinions from the industry, government, academia and research institutes in the shortest possible time , and timely responds and adjusts to suit expectations according to the real-time needs. With Private 5G Networks, 5G AIoT is not just a tool. When they are integrated, they can have the power to change the world.

Minister Tang also visited the advanced manufacturing equipment of Inventec’s Smart Factory and its procedure of smart production using 5G technology, which includes AI-AOI (Automatic Optical Inspection), Digital Twins, AR Production Equipment Inspection, Facial Recognition System, and Digital Fence and Fast Dashboard, etc., and personally experienced the convenience of the procedure of AR production equipment inspection. The above innovative technologies not only improve productivity and product yield, but also bring extreme benefits to the factory’s occupational safety management.

The ministry has accelerated the digital transformation of industries using private 5G networks. As of November 20, 2023, four mobile broadband private network reviews have been conducted, totaling 41 cases, of which 34% have used domestic 5G core network software (Saviah Technologies, Ataya, QCT, Quanta), 90% used domestic base stations (Inventec, Askey, QCT, Pegatron, Wistron NeWeb, Foxconn, Quanta), showing that Taiwan’s promotion of localization of telecommunication equipment has been effective. It is hoped that through the private 5G networks programs, more companies would be inspired to join the trend of digital transformation and help Taiwan become the leader in global digitalization.
