Over 100 Frontline Employees in Taichung Complete Training for MODA’s Government Agencies’ Official LINE Account Authentication Mechanism

The Ministry of Digital Affairs (MODA) is working closely with local governments in implementing the "Government Agencies’ Official LINE Account Authentication Mechanism," which allows citizens to easily verify the authenticity of official LINE accounts of government agencies in an intuitive way on LINE, the most commonly used communication platform. The MODA and LINE Taiwan jointly completed two online training sessions in September this year, and over 100 frontline employees of departments, district offices, and household registration offices under Taichung City Government participated in the training sessions. Taichung City Government is expected to be the first to begin using the blue shield certification at the end of September. Having a clear and consistent mark on accounts allows the public to more quickly identify correct information, further increasing the trust between the government and the public.

The Government Agencies’ Official LINE Account Authentication Mechanism is designed to make it easy for the public to determine the authenticity of government LINE accounts. When people receive government information on LINE, they can quickly determine whether it is from an actual government agency by checking for a blue shield mark on the account, and examining whether the account name clearly indicates the agency name and the individual’s job title and name. This simple identification method can effectively reduce the risk of people being scammed by allowing them to determine the authenticity of accounts in daily use scenarios.

To help achieve a consistent response among frontline service personnel and improve their response abilities, MODA and LINE Taiwan jointly completed two online training sessions on September 11 and 12, focusing on authentication concepts, standards for the account mark, and external application scenarios, helping civil servants to better meet citizens’ needs in practice. Taichung City Government is expected to be the first to use the mechanism at the end of September, and will first use the mechanism in government service accounts commonly used by the public, so that the identification mechanism will begin to benefit citizens from points of contact where they will be felt the most as soon as possible, and will gradually make a greater impact.

Looking ahead, MODA will continue to collaborate with local governments and LINE to steadily expand the scope of implementation, ensuring that the official LINE accounts of government agencies will have a consistent mark that can be clearly identified and verified. MODA will continue to optimize service processes and jointly create a secure and trustworthy digital environment that allows citizens to understand, identify, and trust what they see in everyday communication scenarios.
