2025 Presidential Hackathon Workshop Kicks Off: Public-Private Collaboration Forges New Sustainable Paradigm

The domestic track of the 2025 Presidential Hackathon hosted a workshop for its selected teams on October 29th. Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim attended the event, encouraging the 20 teams, chosen from a total of 178 proposals, to leverage data and technology to devise innovative solutions that could truly change society, addressing Taiwan's challenges in climate change and sustainable development. The workshop aimed to establish a firm foundation for the final selection stage through the mentorship of experts and cross-sector exchanges, so that this public-private collaboration can, in turn, usher in a new chapter of net-zero transition and digital innovation.

Vice President Hsiao, alongside Vice Premier of the Executive Yuan Cheng Li-chiun, Convener of the Presidential Hackathon Committee, attended the workshop to hear the teams present their proposals. Both leaders encouraged the teams to collaborate with the government, leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) and innovative thinking to propel a sustainable Taiwan forward, thereby demonstrating the government's strong commitment to sustainable development.

Minister of Digital Affairs Lin Yi-jing, in his capacity as the Committee’s Executive Director, was also present to oversee the proposals’ development. He stated that digital transition and AI technology serve as the engine for advancing government innovation and upgrading public services. He added that this year's hackathon specifically encouraged participants to harness AI to propose innovative application scenarios, thereby accelerating the resolution of public governance pain points and forging a competitive, sustainable development path for Taiwan.

Today’s workshop assembled interdisciplinary experts and coaches to comprehensively guide teams in deepening their concepts and scaling practical implementation, from data insight and topic refinement to technical application and resource connection, ensuring their creative ideas materialize into a force that drives social progress.

The Ministry of Digital Affairs (MODA) explained that the domestic track of this year's Presidential Hackathon was jointly promoted by MODA and the Ministry of Environment. The event, themed "Dual Transformation for Green Growth," attracted 178 proposals from across Taiwan, marking a three-year high. As the competition enters its crucial final selection stage, the eventually chosen outstanding teams will be recognized by the President at the Office of the President, thereby becoming vital partners in the government's drive to promote innovative services.
