The 2026 Presidential Hackathon (Domestic Track), hosted by the Executive Yuan and continuously promoted by the Ministry of Digital Affairs (MODA), is officially open for proposals starting today (31st). Organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, this year’s grand tech event will focus on “Smart Agriculture, Safe and Sustainable,” with the aim to find more resilient and innovative solutions to challenges such as climate change, food security, and agricultural transformation through public participation, cross-domain collaboration, and digital technology.

In her capacity as convener of the Presidential Hackathon Committee, Executive Yuan Vice Premier Cheng, Li-chiun attended today’s launch press conference alongside representatives from the Office of the President, the Legislative Yuan, the Judicial Yuan, the Control Yuan, and the Examination Yuan, as well as MODA Minister Lin, Yi-jing and Minister of Agriculture Chen, Junne-jih to jointly open submissions for the Domestic Track, highlighting the government’s cross-ministerial collaboration with the private sector to advance digital transformation.

At the press conference, outstanding teams from previous years were invited to share how they successfully turned “civilian creativity” into actionable “government public services” through the Hackathon platform. For example, the Zha Nan team integrated recycling, matching, and reuse mechanisms to effectively tackle the problem of coffee ground waste, and the Guardians Alliance 2.0 team leveraged the Internet of Things to connect cross-domain resources and boost fire reporting efficiency, proving that hacker ingenuity can meaningfully transform society.

MODA pointed out that agriculture and sustainable development are crucial to the well-being of all people. From farm to table, from production to distribution, every link contains opportunities for transformation. In response to the booming development of generative AI and big data technologies, this year’s competition has added the “Data Governance” bonus category to encourage participating teams to actively incorporate data strategy, data quality, and data standards into their proposals with “data-driven decision-making” as the core, and to use cutting-edge technologies such as AI to propose more accurate and feasible public service solutions.

The 2026 Presidential Hackathon is accepting proposals from now until the end of August. We invite minds from all fields to collaborate, driven by real-world needs, so that innovative ideas can take root, be put into practice, and scale through the Hackathon platform to jointly create new value for public services.
