The Ministry of Digital Affairs (MODA) stated that people with disabilities are legally eligible for vehicle license tax exemption. However, after moving, they must reapply at the tax collection authority in their new registered domicile. To save individuals with disabilities from preparing complex documents and traveling between agencies, MODA’s MyData Digital Service Personalization Platform has partnered with local governments to offer an online service for “Vehicle License Tax Exemption Applications for People with Disabilities.” Once users complete identity verification and provide consent, the MyData platform automatically retrieves necessary household registration, disability status, vehicle registration, and driver’s license data. Applicants can complete the entire process online without having to visit multiple offices to request paper certificates.

Mr. Luo, who has a disability, recently relocated from Taoyuan City to Taipei City. Required to reapply for his vehicle license tax exemption with the Taipei City Revenue Service, he found it frustratingly inconvenient to gather paperwork, make time, and arrange transportation to submit the application. However, after learning that Taipei City had integrated the MyData platform, Mr. Luo switched to applying online and successfully completed the application process from the comfort of his home. “I assumed I’d have to make a special trip to the tax office after moving,” Mr. Luo shared with delight. “I had no idea I could handle it all from home through MODA’s MyData platform. It saved me so much time and effort!”

MODA pointed out that 14 local governments, including Keelung City, Taipei City, Miaoli County, Taichung City, Changhua County, Nantou County, Yunlin County, Chiayi City, Chiayi County, Tainan City, Kaohsiung City, Pingtung County, Yilan County, and Hualien County, have already partnered with the MyData platform to provide this service, bringing the convenience of online applications to an even wider audience. At the core of MyData is the principle “Data Shared by Consent, Obtained with Security.” In the future, MODA will continue to work with central and local governments to promote more digital services that meet the needs of the public, making government services more convenient and relevant to people’s daily lives.
