Minister Tang met with the delegation of the French National Assembly, hoping to promote digital cooperation and exchange between both sides

Minister of the moda Audrey Tang received a delegation led by Eric Bothorel, President of the Taiwan Friendship Group of the French National Assembly this afternoon(17th) to exchange views on interference and deepening cooperation between Taiwan and France on specific issues in the digital field.

Minister Tang said that since the establishment of moda in August last year, Taiwan has felt the concern of European and American countries on the issue of digital interference from foreign countries. On April 12 this year, she was invited to attend the hearing of the Investigative Committee on Foreign Interference of the French National Assembly to share Taiwan's experience in countering digital interference through digital resilience.

Minister Tang said she agreed with French proposition that Taiwan and France should continue to exchange and cooperate in digital-related fields, such as the digital transformation of the government, cyber security and information resilience, and that both sides should continue to interact on a regular basis at the level of affairs; she hoped to start with the mutual recognition of electronic signatures to promote the interoperability of the digital infrastructure of both sides and to enhance the efficiency of public affairs, business and civil exchanges.

Minister Tang pointed out that in April 2022, Taiwan and France with other 60 partner countries signed the “ A Declaration for the Future of the Internet”, which mentions mutual cooperation based on values and the commitment of countries with similar philosophies to make the Internet a resilient infrastructure for the protection of human rights, freedom and mutual trust. It is hoped that under this spirit, we will work together to promote the development and cooperation in the field of "Data Altruism".

During the meeting, Mr. Bothorel expressed his affirmation of the concept of Public Code promoted by moda, and supported the idea that all democratic countries should participate and work together for joint defense, so that Taiwan should not be left alone.

In addition to the delegation led by President Bothorel, the delegation also included Mireille Clapot, Vice President of the Foreign Affairs Committee and Friendship Group, Michel Herbillon, Vice President of the Foreign Affairs Committee, and Constance Le Grip, member of the French National Assembly.
