In a meeting with the UK’s DBT, Minister Tang said that in the face of natural disasters and changes in the international political situation in recent years, Taiwan is planning cross-border backup through advanced encryption sub-support technology to ensure it has sufficient digital resilience in responding to unexpected events.

Minister Tang said that the Ministry of Digital Affairs has adopted the cloud-native concept and combined it with a zero-trust architecture to ensure a good information security environment; in addition, it will promote the reciprocal certification of digital signatures as soon as possible to remove the technical barrier of digital trade for both Taiwan and the UK and provide more opportunities for mutual exchanges.

Minister Huddleston shared that the UK government has recently expanded the Digital Trade Network and officially included Taiwan in the scope of cooperation, and is pleased to see Taiwan and the UK work together to strengthen the partnership.

Moreover, Minister Tang was invited by the UK’s Department for Business and Trade,to attend the Global Leaders Innovation Summit at London Tech Week in the UK, which was joined by over 400 technology experts from 41 countries. Minister Tang talked about Taiwan’s efforts and experiences in digital governance, network resilience, AI democratization, and other innovative measures, such as the “Taiwan Employment Gold Card” and the “Tcloud Marketplace” policies, with many distinguished guests from various countries, and received enthusiastic responses.

Minister Tang mentioned that this year, the Ministry of Digital Affairs launched the “Taiwan Employment Gold Card” in the digital field, which allows foreigners with eight years’ digital-related professional experience, regardless of job title and salary level, to apply for a one- to three-year work residency visa in Taiwan, and welcomes professionals at the summit to come to Taiwan for employment, job search and starting a business.

Minister Tang explained that the “Tcloud Marketplace” helps medium, small and micro-sized enterprises attain digital transformation by providing 729 rent-to-own cloud solutions in 15 categories, as well as online consultation services from experts, financially assisting around 50,000 enterprises in achieving digital transformation to date. This year, the application for subsidies for social and creative organizations was opened on March 31st, and applications will be accepted from various types of organizations, including cooperatives and long-term care institutions, to strengthen digital resilience for all.
