Minister Audrey Tang visits Deputy Speaker of the House of Lords in the UK, exchanging experiences in democracy development and establishing technological cooperation understanding

Minister Audrey Tang of the Ministry of Digital Affairs (moda), accompanied by John Dennis, Representative at the British Office Taipei, visited the UK Parliament on June 16th. She met with Lord Faulkner of Worcester, the UK’s Trade Envoy to TaiwanDeputy Speaker of the House of Lords, and the former co-chair of the British-Taiwanese All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG). The purpose of the visit was to exchange views on democracy development and Taiwan–UK technological cooperation. Minister Tang also participated in the second AI Roundtable, engaging in in-depth discussions with interdisciplinary experts on topics such as consolidating the direction of AI development. The roundtable also focused on "web3 and Trustworthy AI." As such, she further engaged in dialogue with interdisciplinary experts from Digital Catapult and Dark Matter Labs, among others.

During the meeting, Minister Tang expressed her desire to deepen the bilateral relationship between Taiwan and the UK, and promote more technological cooperation through the exchange of democratic development experiences.


Minister Tang also used the meeting to share the positive response received regarding the Alignment Assemblies activities conducted by the moda through the Collective Intelligence Project (CIP), in collaboration with industry partners such as OpenAI and Anthropic. Participants shared practical paths for AI publicization and data democratization, while also discussing how to combine digital twinning systems with local language models through public IoT devices to foster community inclusiveness.

The experts in attendance unanimously agreed that promoting trustworthy AI requires global cooperation among governments, businesses, academia, and societies. It is essential to jointly establish standards and guidelines, create platforms for dialogue, and promote knowledge exchange in order to collaboratively build a safe and reliable digital era.
