The opening ceremony of the “2024 Taipei Game Show” held on 25th of January which was under the guidance of the Administration for Digital Industries (ADI) of the Ministry of Digital Affairs (moda),  and hosted by the Taipei Computer Association. Deputy Minister Huai-jen Lee (李懷仁) of moda attended the speech to declare the exhibition open, with this opening ceremony, ADI awarded “Indie Game Development and Product Value-added Award“ Prize to 17 award-winning team, ADI wants to let the world know the development potential of Taiwan's original games.

Deputy Minister Huai-jen Lee of moda, said in a speech that Taiwan's indie games have abundant energy, among them, “original content”, “self-made ability” and “exquisite and delicate vision” are widely praised by players around the world. Therefore, indie game development has always been a key industry supported by ADI. Under the high competition in this global entertainment market, ADI enhances the industrial competitiveness of Taiwan’s indie games with some policies such as reward development, technical guidance of industry mentor and matching-collaboration of expending market and assists indie game developers to combine Taiwan's diversified and inclusive cultural elements with game creativity, more show the Taiwan's local trending to the global game stage.

ADI further stated that ADI promotes “Indie Game Development Award”, 8 independent game company/team are rewarded and subsidized every year, with a total bonus of 10.4 million New Taiwan dollars, up to now, more than 32 new developers have been assisted to solve the funding gap in the early stage of research and development. Furthermore, “Indie Game Development and Product Value-added Award“ has been launched since last year (2023), provided a reward of up to 2.5 million New Taiwan dollars and encouraged developers through rich incentives of research and development. ADI will continue to invest in resources in the future to create new industrial opportunities with developers.

In this Taipei game show, in addition to encouraging indie game developers in Taiwan through the visibility of international exhibitions, ADI also had a “Indie Game Development Award Exhibition Area”. In order to press ahead the soundness and friendliness of the digital entertainment environment, there was a special promotion area “遊戲巷弄街，友善塗鴉牆 (Friendly Gaming Wall)”. In addition, there was also a special plan for the smart anti-fraud disseminative area that people paid great attention to “你詐不到我 (You can't cheat me)”, guiding the public to identify fraud smartly, letting people to know the friendly game selection indicators and disseminating the correct game concept to them. Meanwhile, 11 games which were selected in “2023 Friendly Game” recommended by Digital Game SRO were also advertised to players and ADI continues to enhance high-quality game content and services.

During the 4-day exhibition period (January 25-28), it was the first show of the global game exhibition. ADI had 3 booths in this exhibition, there was interesting interactive games, disseminations of anti-fraud knowledge and experiences of new indie game.
