“10 Billion to Support AI Startups” Public-Private Partnership to Jointly Invest in AI and Digital Industries
With the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) worldwide, the government is stepping up investment in the AI sector to help scale Taiwan’s AI capabilities and tap into international markets.
The Administration for Digital Industries (ADI), Ministry of Digital Affairs (MODA) has allocated NT$10 billion from the National Development Fund (NDF) to promote the Implementation Project for Strengthening Investment in AI Startups (hereafter referred to as “the Project”), investing in domestic AI startups and digital economy-related industries. A press conference was held on March 31, 2025, to officially announce the launch of the Project and the opening of application submissions. Representatives from the National Development Council and designated partner investors were invited to jointly mark the Project’s commencement. MODA outlined plans to develop the AI industry with five key strategies: AI computing power, data, talent, marketing, and funding. In terms of funding, the Project will be executed over a 10-year period, with the government matching private funds for joint investment. The Project will collaborate with financial institutions, venture capital firms, accelerators, and corporate venture arms to assist promising AI companies in accelerating IPOs and expanding into global markets.
Startups seeking funding may contact partner investors directly. The Project will then evaluate potential follow-on investments. The first batch of designated partner investors (listed in alphabetical order) includes:
