Supervised by the Ministry of Digital Affairs (moda) and jointly organized by the Administration for Digital Industries (ADI) and the Taipei Computer Association (TCA), the "AI WAVE SHOW 2026" officially opened on July 30 at the Taipei World Trade Center Hall 1 and run through August 1.  As Taiwan's flagship annual event focused on AI industrial implementation, this year's event centers around the theme "AI Ready" On its very first day, the show demonstrated robust industrial matchmaking momentum. The event gathered over 200 outstanding domestic and international enterprises showcasing more than 350 AI solutions, attracting official delegates and business representatives from the United States, Japan, South Korea, Switzerland, Vietnam, Singapore, and many other nations—fully demonstrating the strength of Taiwan's AI software and hardware ecosystem in connecting with the global market.

The "AI for Motion: The Era of Autonomous Intelligence" International Forum Series opened the morning program, with opening remarks by ADI Director General Lin Jiunn-shiow. Director General Lin noted that while Taiwan has long been known for semiconductor and ICT hardware manufacturing, behind these well-known strengths is a group of software and hardware-software integration companies that have been building huge capability for years. AI WAVE SHOW's goal is precisely to build "the first stop for Taiwan's AI products going global," giving domestic software and IT service companies a chance to stand on the international stage.

Director General Lin also emphasized that this year’s AI WAVE SHOW was able to bring together more than 350 AI solutions and nearly 200 participating companies, precisely targeting high-transformation-need sectors such as manufacturing, retail, and healthcare, the result of an entire industry stepping up together. The show is also building shared business-matching channels to help Taiwan's companies reach buyers and partners across the Asia-Pacific market through this regional exhibition network.

The forum brought together experts including Sega Cheng, Co-founder and Chairman of iKala, Hiroyasu Tei, Senior Director of SoftBank Corp.’s Global Business Development Division (Japan), Professor Rolf Meyer of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW), and Rick Tran, Research scientist at Hon Hai Research Institute. They delivered keynote talks on "AI Agents and the Future of Business," "SoftBank's Global AI Strategy," "Winning Business Models in the LLM Era," and "Hon Hai's FoxBrain Model Platform," respectively, sparking lively exchange.

Government, Industry, and Academia Gather for Opening Ceremony; VIP Tour Witnesses AI Implementation Across Diverse Sectors
The Opening Ceremony was jointly launched by key guests, including Minister Lin Yi-jing of the Ministry of Digital Affairs, Honorary Chairman Tung Tzu-Hsien of the Taipei Computer Association, Deputy Minister Chan Fang-Kuan of the National Development Council, Deputy Minister Lin Faa-Jeng of the National Science and Technology Council, Director-General Lin Jiunn-Shiow of the ADI, Moda, Director Yang Geng-yu of the Department of Information Technology, MOENV, and Senior Specialist Tsou Tsung-Hsun of the Department of Industrial Technology, MOEA.
Minister Lin stated that AI has gradually moved from conceptual exploration to practical applications, helping industries across sectors become AI Ready. Citing the rise of the Internet in 1996, Minister Lin noted that AI is now at a critical stage filled with both opportunities and challenges. Just as the Internet transformed global industries at that time, AI will also profoundly reshape human society. However, the future directions of innovation and market opportunities will need to be discovered through continuous exploration, practice, and market validation.
Minister Lin emphasized that technological innovation should be built upon an environment of free and fair competition led by the private sector. The government will not dictate the direction of technological development but will continue to serve as a supporter of the AI ecosystem. Through five key policy tools—computing power, data, talent, marketing, and funding—the government aims to foster a supportive environment for AI development, help enterprises seize AI opportunities, and build an ecosystem conducive to AI innovation and growth.
The Opening Ceremony also attracted diplomatic representatives and trade commissioners from the Pennsylvania Trade and Investment Office, Polish Office in Taipei, Empire State Development, Nigerian Trade Office in Taipei, Malaysian Friendship and Trade Centre, Chilean Trade Office, Trade and Investment Queensland, Embassy of Guatemala, Alberta Taiwan Office, Okinawa Prefecture Industrial Promotion Public Corporation Taipei Office, AmCham Taiwan, Czech Economic and Cultural Office, Trade Office of Swiss Industries, Republic of Somaliland Representative Office in Taiwan, and India Taipei Association, underscoring the event's strong international cohesion. 

ADI Pavilion Draws Packed Opening-Day Crowds, Showcasing Cutting-Edge AI Applications and Interactive Innovation
On the opening day of AI WAVE SHOW 2026, the "AI Wave Pavilion", curated by the Administration for Digital Industries (ADI), Moda, emerged as a major focal point, drawing packed crowds of global industry leaders and visitors. Designed around the evocative themes of "Digital Ocean" and "Data Currents," the pavilion highlights Taiwan’s rising momentum in exporting its integrated hardware-and-software AI ecosystem to the world stage.
The exhibit features four curated zones: the "AI Factory" presents turnkey solutions for enterprise process automation and low-power edge computing chips; the "Healthcare" zone showcases advanced eye-tracking diagnostic tools, non-contact cardiovascular monitoring, and generative care robotics; the "E-Commerce & Retail" section highlights multilingual speech recognition, glasses-free 3D displays, and intelligent venue management platforms; and the "Talent & Policy" zone emphasizes localized sovereign AI benchmark results alongside Taiwan’s thriving AI talent pipeline.
Adding an engaging highlight to the showcase, the "Co-Creating a Digital Twin City" interactive experience invites attendees to build with physical blocks, which AI instantaneously converts into custom virtual structures on a massive dynamic cityscape display. Visitors can also print personalized souvenir postcards, creating a memorable, hands-on demonstration that has captivated both domestic and international VIPs alike.

AI New Generation Showcase Highlights Cross-Disciplinary AI Innovations by Senior and Vocational High School Students
Following the opening events, the "AI New Generation Showcase & Award Ceremony" commenced, where Lin Jiunn-Shiow, Director General of the ADI, Moda, encourages high school students and commended their learning achievements and innovative capabilities demonstrated throughout the initiative.
Director-General Lin noted that digital technology is transforming the world at an astonishing speed, with the younger generation serving as the core driving force behind this wave of innovation. He especially encouraged the attending students to boldly explore new knowledge, stay curious about the world, and leverage digital tools to solve real-world problems.
He emphasized that the ADI will continue to serve as a strong support, providing abundant learning resources and practical opportunities. He expressed his hope that students will unleash their boundless creativity, bravely pursue their dreams, and lead innovation in the upcoming digital era.
In this showcase, six outstanding teams presented their project outcomes, covering domains such as smart tourism, local cultural features, smart healthcare, and cross-disciplinary AI applications. Leveraging generative AI and various AI tools, combined with creative thinking and teamwork, the students successfully transformed creative concepts into concrete projects, fully demonstrating their cross-disciplinary practical capabilities in integrating AI technology with local characteristics and real-world applications.
The event also featured an award ceremony recognizing teams that demonstrated exceptional performance across various AI hands-on bootcamps. The ceremony commended the students' outstanding performance in AI innovative application, teamwork, and project presentation, while highlighting the fruitful results of the "AI New Generation Initiative" in continuously cultivating AI talent.
