The Ministry of Digital Affairs (MODA) announces regulations at the Private 5G Networks Launch Press Conference
The Ministry of Digital Affairs (MODA) held a Private 5G Networks Launch Press Conference to announce the official promulgation of Private 5G Networks Regulations on June 2nd.
Representatives of 5G Special Interest Groups (SIGs) and experimental network operators were invited to the launch ceremony, symbolizing the partnerships between public and private sectors towards a new era of 5G.
Minister Audrey Tang said, "The official promulgation of Private 5G Networks Regulations is a significant milestone in Taiwan's digital transformation." Minister Tang further stated, "Maintaining the stability and security of Private 5G Networks is the responsibility of MODA." Minister Tang also thanked the Administration for Digital Industries (ADI) for its contribution to revising the regulations.
Not only did the Press Conference showcase the result of ADI’s efforts, it also declared a new beginning for Private 5G Networks.
Kung Ming-Hsin, the Minister of the National Development Council, said, "5G, as well as digital transformation, is one of the core items in terms of budget allocation for phase three of the Forward-looking Infrastructure Development Program. It is a great pleasure to witness the emergence of Private 5G Networks today."
After the inauguration of MODA, matters regarding Private 5G Networks were transferred from the National Communications Commission (NCC) to MODA. To better understand industry needs, ADI visited several experimental network operators. After taking into consideration the feedbacks from the operators, ADI continued to make numerous adjustments before completing the final version of the Private 5G Networks Regulations.
It was announced today that MODA will start accepting applications for the establishment and use of Private 5G Networks from June 5th. Additionally, consultation briefings will be held in Taipei, Taichung and Kaohsiung from June 6th to June 12th, followed by a 5G international forum on June 16th.
